MOTUS HUMANUS
Research Support

Regular members in good standing may apply for seed money grants of up to $500. The grants are designed to support the planning and initiation of Laban-based movement research projects by fully-trained movement analysts who are working professionally in a field of movement study.

Projects funded to date have included the following

1) semiotic analysis of film acting
2) the impact of movement on rehabilitation from head injury
3) preservation of Movement Pattern Analysis archives (in conjunction with the National Resource Centre for Dance, University of Surrey, England)
4) preparation of DVD-based educational materials on dance phrasing

Grants are funded on a yearly basis. Applications are due March 1 of each calendar year.

Preliminary consultation on research ideas is available.
